This the follow up DVD to 'Manchester Metrolink, 20 Years Of Progress' which was released in 2012 and covered the then existing lines to Bury, Altrincham, Eccles, Oldham and St. Werburgh's Road. The last 5 years has seen construction of lines from Piccadilly to Ashton-Under-Lyne, St Werburgh's Road to Manchester Airport and East Didsbury, the Oldham Town Centre diversion and the line to Rochdale. and perhaps the most important section, the 2nd City Crossing (2CC) from Victoria Station to St. Peter's Square. This section involved new track layouts at Victoria and St. Peter's Square plus the construction of a new roof at Victoria Station. The past 5 years has also seen the withdrawal of the T68 and T68A classes of trams, the fleet now consists of 120 Bombardier M5000 Flexity Swift trams, nos. 3001 to 3120, built between 2009 and 2016. The DVD is divided into 4 Parts:
Part 1: The Second City Crossing from Victoria to St. Peter's Square plus Deansgate-Castlefield and the Mosley Street stop. The 2CC was opened from Victoria to Exchange Square on 6th December 2015, the section from Exchange Square to St. Peter's Square via Cross Street and Princess Street opened on 26th February 2017.
Part 2: Piccadilly to Ashton-Under-Lyne, this line opened as far as Droylsden on 11th February 2013, and to Ashton-Under-Lyne on 9th October 2013.
Part 3: The lines from St. Werburgh's Road to Manchester Airport and East Didsbury. The Airport line opened on 3rd November 2014 and the East Didsbury line on 23rd May 2013.
Part 4: The line from Oldham Mumps (temporary stop) to Rochdale opened as far as Shaw & Crompton on 16th December 2012, Rochdale Station was reached on 28th February 2012, the section to Rochdale Town Centre opened on 31st March 2014. The diversion through Oldham Town Centre was opened on 27th January 2014, the temporary Oldham Mumps stop and the former heavy rail alignment from werneth being closed the previous day. The new Queens Road stop on the Bury line is also featured at the end of this chapter.
