The London Underground Pictorial Book is back with volume number 4 in the series. This latest edition has over 100 photographs, the majority of which have been taken during the past year and feature all of the train types currently in passenger service on the Underground. All pictures are accompanied by informative captions that include historical and operational information.
There is a diverse mixture of photographs throughout the book featuring the hustle and bustle of Central London as well as some of the quieter suburbs. As with previous books, there is a selection of pictures of London Underground’s engineering fleet with battery locomotives and other engineering vehicles including a rail grinder, tamping machines and Schöma diesel locomotives. Plus: The Rail Adhesion Trains (RATs); the newly converted D Stock RAT; final farewell to the A Stock; the first D Stock ‘D-Train’ (class 230); a chapter devoted to the iconic stations designed by Charles Holden and the 1938 Tube Stock train which made a welcome return to the Underground on heritage duties in 2018.
