Description

A look at trains and traction at Bremen Hbf and on the route down to Wunstorf, west of Hannover in 2017.

Opened in 1847 as a branch off the Hannover to Minden Railway, today the main route from Bremen down to the junction at Wunstorf, to the west of Hannover, is one of the most important lines in the country. This programme studies the route and its traction and train types from the City of Bremen to Wunstorf during the Summer of 2017 with additional scenes first filmed in 2013.

There is a huge variety of locomotive classes that work the frequent passenger and freight trains that use this route on their way to and from Bremen, Emden and Bremerhaven. Classes 101, 140, 143, 145, 146, 152, 155, 182, 185, 186, 189, 193, 203, 212, 223, 241, 251, 386, 401, 402, 424, 425, 440, 445, 628, SBB 421, PKP EU46 and OBB 1116 are all included.

Our camera visits the main station at Bremen, roaming the platforms at a number of locations watching the trains in action; we then travel south and to local stations at Achim, Etelsen, Langwedel, the junction at Verden before finishing during the late evening at Eystrup. Our final section continues our journey south with trackside locations at Rohrsen, Linsburg, Hagen, Poggenhagen before ending up at the six-track section east of Wunstorf not far from Hannover.
