A look at the locomotives and trains operated by Direct Rail Services from 1996 including Classes 08, 20, 33, 37, 47, 57, 87 and the delivery of the Class 66.
The second in the series of full colour railway books published by Videoscene looks at the popular fleet of Direct Rail Services locomotives in their early years.
Starting with just a handful of locomotives in the mid-1990s, the fleet expanded over the years to include class 20s, 33s, 37s, 47s, 57s and then the class 66. This book looks at those early days, beginning with five 20/3s and through the 37/6s, 37/0s, 47s and onwards. The two class 08s are featured along with the class 87s which were used for a short while. As well as the day-to-day flask traffic, the locos are seen working a variety of trains from all over the UK. From coal and minimodals to railtours, a variety of freight and even the royal train! The book includes a brief history and loco listings.
The book is printed on glossy art paper with the best images in full page format. 80 pages. Hardback.
