The Class 67: EWS' High-speed GM Diesel Locomotive
The programme starts with film of the Alstom production line in Valencia, Spain showing construction, design work, locomotives being painted and trials on the work's test track.
This is followed by arrival of locomotives at Newport Docks in South Wales on board the Jumboship 'MV Fairload' and the complex unloading procedure.
In addition to film of 67's at work, including the last TPO working at Exeter in January 2004, there are ceremonial landmarks such as the naming of 67001 at Bristol Parkway and the unveiling of 67005 at Toton as a 'Royal Train' dedicated locomotive.
A detailed tour of a '67' cab with the depot engineer at EWS Barton Hill, Bristol and a look round the depot, which includes film of routine maintenance work, is followed by a superb high-speed cab ride on board a Class 67 from Bristol to Plymouth, showing all intermediate stations and features of interest.
