Re-live the incredible sight and sound of the mighty 'Deltics' on East Coast main line duties in this exciting programme as we follow the Napier roar and exhaust cloud north from York to Scotland.
In addition to footage of the Deltics taken shortly after their introduction in the early 1960s, much of the material includes scenes filmed during the period 1978 to 1981, capturing the Class 55s at work in their latter years, at a time when the ECML was witnessing great change.
On the way to Edinburgh, we feature East Coast locations such as Newcastle and Berwick plus the rare sight of a 'Deltic' at the head of a breakdown train in the mid-sixties!
Also included in this programme is film of the Deltics at work on the Trans-Pennine route from York to Liverpool and the final gathering of the class at Doncaster Works in 1982.
This programme turns the clock back to the days when Class 55s were a glorious everyday sight and carries on from East Coast 'Deltics' Part One - King's Cross to York, which contains further great action footage.
