Into the third year of the British Rail Motive Power series, we dig deep into the archive of 121 hours of unused and unseen railway film, shot between 1981 and 1999; and all recorded with the original audio on tripod-mounted cameras.
Highlights of Volume 6 include:
Thames Valley: Footage from Oxford, Didcot and Reading with a Class 56 hauled coal train, various 47s on Cross Country, Class 117 and 121 DMUs, a Class 59 preserved wagon train and 47s and 50s in NSE.
The Midlands: 45113, 31130 and 50031 working passenger trains at Birmingham NS and lots of action from Bescot with 08s, 20s, 25s, 31s, 37s and a 56 plus BR Green 45106, Class 304 and 310 EMUs and crash damaged 31143 and 47235.
Welsh Marches: 47593 at Shrewsbury in 1987 splitting its train with 37431 taking the other half to Aberystwyth. Class 33s at Leominster and Ludlow.
North Wales: BR Green 37403 'Ben Cruachan' runs around its coaches at Bangor in 1999 with 47472 on containers at Holyhead in 1990 as 47599 arrives.
Eastleigh: Rare footage of 73202 hauling a Class 205 DEMU and a 4-car Class 411 DC EMU in NSE hauling a blue and grey 3-car Class 302 AC EMU sandite unit!
ECML: Footage from Newcastle and Doncaster plus York in 1982 with 45070 hauling a failed 31196 on a Cross Country service, 46027 taking on water for its boiler and 55015 with Deltic Scotsman Farewell. Includes ITN News footage of the last Deltic!
