We accompanied the Mh. 6 on the journey from St. Pölten main station to Mariazell with several cameras – on different days. The result is a compilation of the continuous journey with impressive shots that make this episode of “Pure Steam” a special experience. The steam makes the music!
The Mariazell Railway is one of the most famous narrow-gauge railways in Austria and has connected the Lower Austrian capital of St. Pölten with the pilgrimage site of Mariazell in Styria since 1907. A special highlight is the historic steam operation with the Mh. 6. This Mh series was specially developed for the demanding track conditions of the Mariazell Railway. These locomotives were built from 1906 onwards and are characterized by their great power and the ability to work reliably on the steep and winding sections of the route.
