A day with each of these two very different and unique articulated locomotives.
This film takes a behind the scenes view of the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways.
Taliesin is a single Fairlie 0-4-4 tank running on the Ffestiniog Railway. It was built as recently as 1999.
K1 is the first Garratt type locomotive built in 1909 and is the only compound locomotive currently running in the UK.
A day with Taliesin includes lighting up and footplate coverage as the locomotive brings the Victorian trainset from Minffordd Yard to Harbour Station, then returns for a rake of tipper wagons and flat trucks.
K1 is prepared at Dinas shed for the day's service trains from Caernarfon to Rhyd Ddu, coaling and watering takes place before a footplate ride up the length of the line.
